Prof. Dr. Mehmet Kaya completed his doctorate in “Medical Physiology” at Istanbul University Health Sciences Institute in 1989. Professor Kaya received the title of “Associate Professor” in 1991 and “Professor” in 1998. Professor Kaya, who has been conducting research on the morphology, physiology, and pathology of barrier-type cerebral blood vessels in experimental animal models of diseases such as epilepsy, hypertensive encephalopathy, septic encephalopathy, and traumatic brain injury since 1985, has recently been working on barrier-type blood vessels in addition to his in vivo studies. It also examines the behavior of endothelial cells in vitro.

The main focus areas of Dr. Yalçın and her team are; application of deep learning techniques in hematological diagnosis, development of microfluidic-based tests that rapidly assess hemostatic function, fluid mechanics in the vasculature, mechanisms for local regulation of blood flow in tissues, and remote killing of electrically excitable cancer cells by photo-active polymers.
Ezgi Tuna Erdoğan, after graduating from Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2006, completed her residency training in the Department of Physiology in the same faculty with her thesis on intraoperative neuromonitoring. She completed his compulsory service at Adana Numune Training and Research Hospital and was an observer for one month in the Intraoperative Neurophysiology Unit of the Neurosurgery Clinic of Verona University. During his residency training and compulsory service, she continued her studies at the Matter and Mind Interactions Laboratory (makelab) with Prof. Sacit Karamürsel and Adnan Kurt. She studied electrophysiological recording, evoked potentials, intraoperative neuromonitoring (IONM), transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS), and neurofeedback. After the compulsory service, she continued her academic life at Bilim University as an assistant professor and worked at the Spina Bifida Center. Between 2016-2019, she joined Istinye University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology, and continued his studies at the Neurological Sciences Research and Application Center (Isucan). As of 2020, she continues her studies as a faculty member at Koç University Faculty of Medicine, Department of Physiology. Her main areas of interest are non-invasive neuromodulation techniques, electrophysiological recordings, and stimulation techniques and to use of these methods in surgeries for neuromonitoring, in neurological diseases with the aim of treatment and performance research in healthy people.
